About Coach Walker

With an outstanding background as a top level player and over 20 years of teaching experience, Christina Walker brings both her passion and her expertise to the field, helping you believe & train to achieve!

 

Coach Walker spent 9 seasons as head coach of the field hockey program after taking the reigns in 2013. In just her third season with the Marlins, Walker took the squad to the ODAC tournament for the first time since the 2011 campaign. She followed that up with a seven win season in 2016, including four wins in ODAC play. The conference win total was the most by a Marlin squad since the 2011 season.

Prior to her time at Virginia Wesleyan, Walker served as an assistant coach at Wake Forest for six seasons, helping guide the Demon Deacons to four NCAA appearances and two national semifinals.

Coach Walker holds Level 2 Coaching Certification from U.S. Hockey and holds a Masters of Arts in liberal studies from Wake Forest. Coach Walker earned her Bachelor’s in public and community health from the University of Maryland where she played in goal for four years for the Terrapins. She was the goalie for Maryland’s 2005 and 2006 national championship teams and ACC Championship team in 2005. She was named to the NCAA All-Tournament Team in 2006.

Coach Walker is currently on the USA Masters O35 Team and she currently owns Back of the Net Field Hockey, LLC and works as the Field Hockey Community Manager for Field Level.

Our Camps, Clinics, and Lessons are about honing in on your fundamental field hockey skills. We start each session with perfecting the simple skills before you are able to move on to the specialty skills. 

Our goal is to have each player come in with an expectation and leave with the knowledge and skills to take their game to the next level! TRAIN TO SUCCEED!!!
